King Of The North Bugzy Malone has released a new single in ‘Clash Of The Titans’, produced by Sir Spyro and taken from Bugzy’s forthcoming album B Inspired. The track was unveiled with a music video featuring Bugzy clashing himself in a video game.
Sharky Major‘s single ‘Grime Original‘, the inaugural release from his Grime Originals label, arrived a few months ago in a single package that also featured a remix with cult hero MCs Manga, Fumin, Bruza and Maxwell D. This weekend saw a video for the remix go live on SBTV, with each featured artists making an appearance in the visual.
A couple of weeks after his successful (albeit prematurely ended) Hell In A Cell 2 grime clash event, DJ Argue‘s latest post-Radar power move was announcing a new label & club night by the name of Glitched. The inaugural event takes place at Boxpark Shoreditch on 23 May, with Discarda & Logan Sama headlining a lineup of Ammi Boyz, YS Tekdinner, Taylah Elaine, Skelecta, Mob Set and Tommy B.
Speaking of Tommy B, the young Payback MC has been announced as the voice of Glitched’s debut label project. Grime Report TV has hosted a video for ‘The Statement’, a Mistakay-produced track that will feature on Tommy’s debut EP Racing, out 30 May.
Kojey Radical revealed his new single ‘Water’ at the start of the weekend, and what caught our eye initially was the production credit of Swindle. For all the amazing music we’ve had from the South Londoner, Swin has been seldom seen behind the boards for other artists in recent years so hopefully this is the start of plenty more guest production. Kojey is joined on vocals by rising talent Mahalia, who shines with her guest verse to make an altogether smooth, enjoyable three-and-a-half minutes.
SBTV released a new single and video from Manchester artist XP, who is joined by frequent collaborator President T and fellow Burst Gang member Hypes for ‘Lights’. The single is produced by Doe Boy, and the video is directed by Rexo. XP & President T worked together previously on XP’s single ‘Mental‘ and Prez’s ‘I Don’t Give A Monkeys‘ over two years ago.
A couple of weeks ago, a short video celebrating grime culture appeared on Apple’s Instagram featuring photography shot by Quann (half of the Wot Do You Call It project) on an iPhone. The post was soundtracked by a brand new Big Zuu song, which was soon announced as his next single. Its title is ‘B.I.G.’,produced by MikeKeyz, and a video has appeared on his channel.
Following the recent release of his project Facts Not Fiction, executive-produced by Zdot & Krunchie, Leicester MC Kamakaze has unleashed a music video for its track ‘Spirits’. Kamdog blasts it out on big speakers in the visual, which went live on SBTV late last week. It is the second music video from the project, after lead single ‘No Days Off‘ last month.
Last summer, South London legend Lioness dropped ‘DBT‘, an explosive minute-long freestyle about the colourism and misogynoir too often experienced by black women such as herself.
The need for a full song was too much and thankfully Lioness came through with the goods this year, calling on Queenie, Stush, Shystie, Lady Leshurr and Little Simz for a ‘DBT’ remix that celebrates their melanin greatness. All feature in the music video, directed by WOWA, that arrived this weekend via GRM Daily.
When Boy Better Know took over London’s O2 Arena last summer, they performed a new track during their headline set called ‘Athlete’, but save for the odd live show afterwards there was next to no updates on the song. Until now.
The weekend kicked off with BBK dropping the single on streaming and digital download platforms, doing so alongside a Matt Walker-directed music video shot around a running track with a whole lot of Nike Air Force Ones. Frisco, Jammer, Shorty, Wiley, Skepta and Jme all bring bars over Mystry production, with Goldie 1 guesting on hook duties.
