Two sides of the UK rap sonic spectrum join forces for a shared love of South London, as critics’ choice Jesse James Solomon and street star Suspect collaborate for the pleasant RedLee-produced surprise that is ‘Son Of The Ends’. Both feature in their respective ends in the video, which is directed by Hector.
Charlie Trees has followed up last week’s ‘Charlie’s Tree 3′ video with a release date for his Root project and another track from it. ‘Hell On Earth’ is the W.A.V.E. Gang MC at his lyrical best, looking at the state of the world over one of his own productions. The video is co-directed with No1.

Night Slugs don Bok Bok launched his Salvage 2K17 EP with an intimate event in a South-East London basement, live streamed by Radar Radio on their Facebook page. The likes of A.G and General Courts were killing it on decks before Bok Bok himself took centre stage to close proceedings, and he was joined on set by MCs Deema, Nico Lindsay, Capo Lee, Novelist, Ets, Young Yizzy and Aaze. This set is now on Radar’s YouTube channel, and you can enjoy it above.
You may think you’d have a rough idea of what Capo Lee on the same track as P Money would sound like, but the pair’s new song is a surprise to us at least. ‘Mula’, produced by Atilla Beats, isn’t necessarily a grimy track as such and Capo’s approach with his flow and hook reflects that. The video sees a reluctant henchman pondering his daily life, and can be seen via SBTV.

A looped live YouTube stream on Dizzee Rascal‘s website came to life yesterday afternoon, with footage of Dizzee writing out the track list for his new album as snippets played in the background. It was then followed by brief clips of two music videos, one of which seeming to be the song that prompted Wiley to threaten to pen a 10-minute war dub earlier this week.
Today, one of the music videos is revealed as the lead single ‘Space’, and can be watched in full online. A pre-order link for the 16-track album, titled Raskit, has also appeared, with the scheduled release date 21 July. The album features production from the likes of Darkness, The Heavytrackerz and Donae’O, as well as Americans such as Valentino Khan, Cardo and Paul Salva. Any expectations for the album being a return to grime appear to have been quashed with Dizzee’s words…
“The idea of trying to be my 17 year old self again just because everyone thinks grime’s landed in their lap this week didn’t satisfy me. I wanted to use what I’ve learned to make the best rap album I could, with no hands in the air moments, just using as much English slang as I could over the best beats I could find”.
The third track from Charlie Sloth‘s forthcoming album The Plug is ‘Running’, which features bars from Ghetts and Abra Cadabra, the latter of whom is also on the hook. The track follows the Bugzy Malone-featuring track ‘#FameGame‘ and Giggs collab ‘Wake Up‘. The Plug is produced exclusively by Charlie, and is released 18 August.
In April, Mr. Mitch released his Devout album, which was themed around fatherhood and a positive portrayal of father-son relationships. Its lead single was ‘Priority’, on which P Money spoke about his life changing for the better upon the birth of his son, and now the song gets the video it deserves. Mitch, P and fellow fathers are filmed with their children in a touching visual directed by Luke Carlisle, which you can watch above.
Singer Josh Bevan has released a video for the lead track from his forthcoming Cloud_9 EP, which is a collaboration with none other than Rival. The lyric video for ‘GHOSTS’ is an 8-bit style visual, which reads like a cutscene of exposition from an early 90s video game.
In other Rival news, his weekly BISC series is still going strong. Click here to check the full list of 18 tunes so far.
For all the high-charting EPs and big spectacle music videos, this writer enjoys Bugzy Malone most when he is freestyling by the side of the road, which is the Manchester MC’s latest release is definitely good news. Ahead of the King Of The North EP next month, Bugzy has released a #NoBigDeal freestyle, spraying to Heavytrackerz production next to his car, harnessing the spirit of his JDZ Spitfire and ‘Late Night In The 0161‘ sessions.
