Exclusive: Mathieu Flamini – “It Won’t Be Easy To Play Against Cesc”
Tego Sigel grabs a word with Arsenal's midfield general Mathieu Flamini...
Since we spoke to Cesc Fabregas about Mathieu Flamini in January, it was only right that we ask the Frenchman about his close friend in return. Little did we know that by the time we’d meet with Arsenal‘s swashbuckling midfield star, his close friend would be plying his trade for bitter rivals Chelsea.
Speaking at the launch of Arsenal’s new home, away and cup kits, their first with new partners PUMA, Mathieu Flamini was conflicted about Cesc’s return to London, “Cesc is a great friend of mine and he will soon by my neighbour. It’s great to have him back in London.” His smile replaced by a more serious expression, the former AC Milan man continued, “I have more opportunity to see him, but it won’t be easy to play against him, because I played next to him for so long.”
Letting us know that he was happy for Cesc, Flamini explained that he’d already had Stamford Bridge marked down as the hardest away game of the forthcoming campaign before his friend’s £30million arrival, “I’ve had some great games there, but I wouldn’t say it’s the hardest. Of course the last time we played there [Arsenal’s humiliating 6-0 defeat last season], I didn’t really like it.”
