Nike Collaborate With London’s The Basement On Limited Edition Dunk
Nike have unveiled a collaboration with London’s The Basement and it is fuego. Working with The Basement, who are a collective that connect London’s young creatives through online and online platforms, Nike have allowed Basement member Daniel Pacitti to create the Dunk Low BSMNT, which combines nine materials including canvas, corduroy, denim and leather which represent the diversity of the youth supported by the organisation.
The Basement is a collective of creatives bonded by their passion for culture and community, representing the broad spectrum of backgrounds that make-up London as a city. Arranging meet-ups, creating content and sharing insights, The Basement encourages new generations of creatives, offering opportunities, advice and inspiration to its members.
Unveiled through a series of films titled Real People Do Real Things (watch below), the Nike Dunk Low BSMNT features a BSMNT logo on the tongue, foot bed and heel, as well as a reflective, embroidered mini swoosh on the lateral side of the toe. The Basement logo, which is a series of lines representing nine rungs of a ladder, is also reflective and embroidered on the heel.
All sales of the Nike Dunk Low BSMNT will go to the Young Futures organisation, which provides mentorship to London youth in addition to space for meals and doing homework. The Basement also plan to support the creation of a media production suite at Youth Futures as a way of enabling more young people to engage creatively and share their work across the multiple mediums that they work in.
Launched at a pop-up in London on 29 July, the Nike Dunk Low BSMT collaboration will also feature apparel designed by The Basement member Alexandra Hackett. Keep an eye on @BasementApproved on Instagram for information on where the pop-up will be.
