This week’s instalment of RWD’s Top Five Heaters Of The Week features a good mix of some of the scene’s big hitters and upcoming artists who you need to get to know: ScHoolboy Q connects with Travis Scott for the violin strings filled ‘CHopstix’; M Huncho delivers his signature trapwave sound on ‘Ocho Cinco’; Russ & Tion Wayne give ‘Keisha & Becky’ an all-star remix featuring Aitch, JAY1, Sav’O & Swarmz; Vibbar’s Skribz channels his trials and tribulations on ‘Nine Night’ and West London rapper/singer Lava La Rue gifts us with an anthem about resilience in the shape of ‘Burn’.

ScHoolboy Q ft. Travs Scott – CHopstix

ScHoolboy Q made his grand return in March, with the release of ‘Numb Numb Juice’ and has now followed up with the violin string filled ‘CHopstix’, also taken from his forthcoming album. The video features a catchy and melodic hook from Travis Scott and sees La Flame proudly conducting the string section of a classical music orchestra, all whilst ScHoolboy Q controls proceedings as a supreme ringmaster, with a group of twirling ballerinas serving as his backdrop. Take in the opera themed video directed by Nabil below.

M Huncho – Ocho Cinco

Taken from his freshly released mixtape, Utopia, the masked maverick known as M Huncho has gifted us with the video for ‘Ocho Cinco’. The song features his signature trapwave sound produced by his go to guy Quincy and using the song’s title as a metaphor (named after former American football wide receiver Chad Ochocinco) the visual shows M Huncho scoring the winning touchdown in an action packed American football game. Watch the video shot by Capone & Guise below and look out for cameos from Kenny Allstar as an animated sports commentator and Big Zuu as a referee.

Russ x Tion Wayne ft. Aitch, JAY1, Sav’O & Swarmz – Keisha & Becky

After the madness that the original ‘Keisha & Becky’ caused from Russ and Tion Wayne, the two have now recruited Manchester’s own AitchJAY1 AKA Mr taking ‘Your Mrs’, Ladbroke Grove drill star Sav’O and N9’s Swarmz for an all-star remix. With all four MCs coming off big tunes, its not a surprise that they have come together to produce an absolute banger, gifting the drill genre with another potential hit. Check out the destructive link up filmed by Wowa below and watch out for cheeky appearances from One AcenPete and Bas.

Skribz – Nine Night

After kicking of the year with the ode to Arsenal footballer ‘Bellerin’Vibbar are back with a solo cut from Skribz in the shape of ‘Nine Night’. Produced by TJ of The Confect, the beat is a masterpiece, carried by warm classical piano keys and a soulful melody, Skribz laces the instrumental with poignant bars, stating “I’ve been through so much change, I’ve planned to wash away my sins, then see there’s no such rain, I’ve seen my Dad breakdown and cry, its like I’ve been through so much pain”. This hurt is also channeled through the grayscale visuals put together by Courtney J. BennetYinka Says and Poet, which features powerful and emotive imagery showing Skribz pondering the trials & tribulations of his life. Peep the outstanding cinematography below.

Lava La Rue – Burn

West London rapper/singer Lava La Rue has just dropped, ‘Burn’, the first single from her upcoming Sophomore EP, following her breakout tape Letra which dropped last summer. As the founder of Art Collective Nine8, her creativeness is really felt on ‘Burn’, where she rides the housy production with her delicate rap/sung flow and the video sees the artist highlighting her tranquil side, rising out of flower filled waters and showing her fiery side at a lively looking house party. Speaking on the track, Lava La Rue says “the lyrics to Burn were originally an extended poem, an anthem, written for my friends, and my community about resilience.  I don’t believe that the days of rockstar legends like Prince/Grace Jones who made bangers you’d dance to whilst being politically rebellious as POC is something of the past… I believe that all forms chanting a hook, a catchy chorus, is repeating spells and speaking things into existence. My hook is We Will Fight It.”
