Skepta sits down with Julie Adenuga to discuss ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’
To celebrate the release of his fifth album Ignorance Is Bliss on Friday, Skepta joined his sister Julie Adenuga at Beats 1 to discuss the new album.
In the first part of their conversation, which is available now on Apple Music, the pair discuss a handful of topics including the album’s artwork – which includes an image of Julie, as well as slowthai and skaters Lucien Clarke and Blondey McCoy – how he feels about the completed album and what he thinks Stormzy‘s impact on UK music will be.
“I’d made these nine pictures, I just Google searched all the expressions that I wanted and I put them. And then when I was looking at each of them of who I thought that could do them the best, that’s what made me pick those people,” he explains of the artwork. “I picked the pictures before I picked the people basically. Even me holding my daughter like that, I picked it from like an old, I think it was an Oxfam advert.”
A second 20-minute segment is expected to drop this week, in which he’ll talk about fatherhood, love, being introverted and more.
